Another week down....

It's been another week since I posted last. You'd think that as much as I love to write, I'd be on here every day - I just never have the time for that!

Nothing too exciting has happened this past week.

Oh, wait, I lied. Jim and I have been married for 3 years now! The 26th was our anniversary. We celebrated by going to a nice dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse on Saturday - it was delicious, and Brooke loved it too, haha. On our actual anniversary, we decided on IHOP so that Brooke could eat, too, and since we love breakfast. It's been a great three years, and I'm still very much in love with him.

This week, Brooke has fallen twice at daycare. The first time, she got a bloody nose and now has a little bruise on the side. It never got swollen or hurt her, thankfully. Yesterday, she hit her face again and bumped her lip. I need to put this girl in some bubble wrap!

The other night, when we were leaving IHOP, Brooke said bye bye for the first time to the waitress. It was so cute! She's not saying it regularly yet, so we'll see if it becomes her first word.

I've been thinking a lot about my friend that I posted about before, Jacqui (B's godmother). She's going through so much, and I wish there were something I could do to help her. She's done with the IV chemo and back on oral chemo until she has a bone marrow biopsy next week. Then, she might get to go home for a few weeks before her bone marrow transplant. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers that she can spend some time at home with her husband and that the chemo has helped put her leukemia into remission so that she's healthy enough for her transplant.

10 months (and 1 day)

Yesterday, Brooke turned 10 months old. I can hardly believe it! In just 2 months, we'll be celebrating her first birthday! It will be an exciting couple of weeks - birthday parties for her friends, we'll do something special on the day of her actual birthday, and then her party in PA in Aug. 1.

There's no dr appointment this month, but I weighed her on our baby scale at home (it's always a few ounces off, but it's close enough). She was....20 lbs 12 oz!

She's now crawling, clapping, sitting up from laying down, feeding herself, saying Mama, Dada, hi, and yay, waving......

She's also starting to try to pull herself up, but she always does it on something unsteady - her jumperoo, her carseat, the rocking chair - she gets on her knees and then the item moves and she quickly sits back down!

Happy 10 months baby, I love you!

And Happy Birthday to my nephew, Ethan, who is turning 6 today! We love you, bud!

Still going...

Last night, Brooke learned to play If you're happy and you know it....she claps at exactly the right moment, and usually claps twice. I got a video tonight, so we'll have to try to post it soon.

Today was my birthday. Jim is at work, so Brooke and I are home playing. I don't feel like cooking, and it is my special day, so I ordered pasta from Pizza Hut, haha.

My baby girl is going to be ten months old tomorrow - it's just flying by. Before we know it, she'll be a year old! I miss her being tiny, but she is so much fun these days, always smiling and laughing. We need to get in major babyproofing mode, though, because she's into EVERYTHING!

Learning

It's been over a week since I've written, and it's been quite the eventful week!

My parents were visiting this weekend, and we had a great time. We did some shopping, some swimming, and lots of staying home playing with the baby! Jim and I went out by ourselves for the first time since Brooke was born (nothing exciting - we went car shopping, haha). Sunday night, we went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday - I picked Buffalo Wild Wings. It was delicious! My parents bought me a new watch, and my wonderful husband got me the new luggage I've been wanting!

In less than a week, Brooke has learned to sit up from laying down AND to crawl! I'm so excited and so proud of her. She's so advanced on the problem solving, etc., that I must admit I was starting to worry on the gross motor skill front. But, no more! She's now my mobile little girl, and I love it! She's almost 10 months old - I cannot believe it.

I had blogged a while ago about one of my best friends, Brooke's godmother, having leukemia that came back after being in remission only for a couple of months. On Friday, she was having some pain in her back and having difficulty breathing - her dr was concerned it was a blood clot (she recently flew back from Hawaii) so she went to the ER. Turns out, the cancer has progressed to AML and she developed tumors in her back. She's now in the hospital for at least 2 months, receiving high dose chemotherapy in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. We haven't seen her since September, and cannot foresee when we will get to visit again - she lives in Pittsburgh, and I probably won't be able to visit when we're up in August (depending on where she's at in the transplant process). Please pray for her and keep her in your thoughts.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is my first "real" mother's day, and I've had a great day...actually a great weekend!

It started Friday morning, when Brooke's daycare had a mother's day breakfast. They had mini pastries, and Brooke "made" me a card. We got to spend some time with Lilly and her mom, Emma and her mom, and Ivan and her mom....I got a couple cute pictures of the kids.

Friday night, Jim got me "mother's day dinner" since his work schedule was awful this weekend and we knew we wouldn't have time for anything. I picked Chinese food - it was DELICIOUS from this little place on our street. It's very fitting, too, since Chinese was what I craved the most while I was pregnant!

On Saturday, Brooke and I hung out at home and went grocery shopping. I didn't worry about doing anything but spending time with her - including the two hour nap we took together in the afternoon!!

For Mother's Day, Brooke gave me a picture of us that was printed to look like it's a magazine cover and is framed. I love it! She also bought me a cake from Publix.

Now, Jim is sleeping since he's working night shifts until Tuesday. I think Brooke and I might go print out some pictures and pick up a basket that we need to put her toys in, then we might hit the swimming pool once the sun is not quite so bright...it's so hot outside!

Happy Mother's Day to all my mommy friends....I hope your day is as great as mine has been!

Much better

I've been feeling much better since the weekend.

I spent Saturday and Sunday with family, which is always the cure-all for me. On Saturday, Brooke and I went to the Grand Beach Hotel on Miami Beach to visit with Jim's sister, Heather, her husband, Ron, and their kids, Ethan (5) and Megan (4). Heather wasn't feeling well, so Ron and I took the kids for dinner and then swimming in the pool.

On Sunday, we had the kids' pictures taken together at Penney's, had lunch at the mall, and then headed back to the hotel. We took Brooke to the beach for the first time, and then hit the pool again.

Brooke is my little fish. She LOVED the water even more than I do, if that's possible! She already leans back to float, splashes, kicks, and even tries to put her face under water. I'm looking into finding infant swimming classes for her at a reasonable price.

The Grand Beach Hotel is beautiful - the beach, the pool, all of it. I almost forgot where I was and felt like I was on vacation.

That, combined with just spending time in the sunlight, made me feel a million times better.

I can't wait to hit the water again with my little girl. :-) Pictures coming soon!
